Our segments

The Hudevad segment pages has been made for you who make architectural drawings, calculate, plan and build public and private buildings, where project and radiator plans go hand in hand and where the big picture is crucial for success. We have gathered several different segments on this page - Health, Education, Historical and Office - where our experience tells us, that further information and inspiration may be needed to get the build off to a good start.

Our radiators can be used pretty much anywhere, but of course there are some that are better suited to specific locations than others.

Historic buildings

It’s an art form in itself to respectfully restore heritage buildings in order to preserve their history for many years ahead. Although the heating aspect may easily be neglected because it isn’t the first obvious concern, it is actually paramount when it comes to conservation of fragile buildings.

Historic buildings were built in a time where heating was immensely different than the present day, and thus many buildings are not constructed for the temperatures we require today. The wrong kind of heating can quite simply physically destroy murals in church ceilings, wallpaper, carpets and other fragile materials.

Office buildings

Heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning account for about a third of the energy used in commercial buildings. Consequently, these systems have to be modern and efficient as there are significant savings to be made by improving and substituting old systems with new, technology-updated ones.

A comfortable room temperature is a very subjective matter, but good indoor climate is universal. A crucial factor in achieving good indoor air quality is natural ventilation, such as opening windows and doors to let in the fresh air.

Health sector

The WHO estimates that each year in Europe around 37,000 people die as a result of an infection they acquired while being cared for in a hospital. Multiresistant bacteria and the lack of efficient cleaning are the main sources of this highly tragic and costly situation. Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) affect at least 7% of all patients and annual societal costs to treat and prevent them are approximately € 7 billion in Europe alone.

Educational institutions

There are currently over 100 million students in Europe and as they spend around 70% of their time indoors an optimal indoor environment is crucial. Heating educational facilities can be a big challenge as many of them take advantage of the natural light by installing large window sections. With glazing, however, comes a set of challenges. During the summer the windows act as a magnifier for sun-rays and the room temperature quickly rockets to sky-high degrees. The opposite problem occurs during the winter, when windows allow for chilling cold draughts. When heating educational facilities, adaptability in the heat source is the key, and that is best achieved with a radiator with low water content.
